"And" Versus "Or"; What's Your Worldview

What worldview are you living out? What is your belief around scarcity? Does a win for someone else imply a loss for you? Stephen Covey, in his best-selling book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, offers a powerful analogy to explain our ideas about scarcity: some people see life as finite pie, so that if one person takes a big piece, that leaves less for everyone else.

What if life is not a zero-sum game? What if the pie is bigger that we imagined? Or what if a individual pie potentially exists for each of us and our choices and decisions help determine how much or how good our own pie is? What if you can win AND others can win, too?

Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck found that a worldview of abundance, or what she calls a growth mindset, over a fixed one can help enhance brain development, lower stress, anxiety and depression, and even improve our relationships. Seeing the world through a lens of infinite possibility opens our hearts and minds to creative ideas, innovative solutions, AND the ability to celebrate even when others win!
