Negative Thoughts Can Lead to Mental Illness

The way we think is directly linked to how we feel, what we believe, and how we act. Your brain is always listening and it has to believe you. In fact, your brain even creates neural networks around what you tell it most often.

Negative thoughts:

· create anxiety

· cause stress and depression

· hinders brain coordination, balance, creativity

· slows thought processing

· reduce mood, memory, impulse control

· impede your ability to find solutions

Positive thoughts:

· increase mental productivity and cognition,

· helps you pay attention and focus

· improves your ability to think and analyze information

· allows you to solve problems creatively

· enhances higher-order thinking skills

· empowers you to see possibilities where you couldn’t before.

Your brain will literally support your thought process. So, of the approximate 50,000 thoughts you have every day, make sure you are choosing to hold on to ones that are TRUE, HELPFUL and HEALTHY.
